Louis Claude PAVIOT French Landscape Oil on Board
Louis Claude Paviot was born in Lhuis in the Ain region of France in 1872. He studied in Paris under Jean-Paul Laurens and Doucet. A painter of landscapes, Paris and Lyon cityscapes, nudes, and floral still-lifes. He joined the Societe Lyonnais des Beaux Arts in 1896, exhibiting with them after the turn of the century. A friend of Matisse, Renoir, Bonnard, and Denis, he exhibited with them at the Salon des Independants in Paris. Benezit vol. 8, pg. 173; and Hardouin-Fugier's "La Peinture Lyonnaise au XIXe Siecle."
