The carved limestone fragments that comprise this exhibition date from the original construction
of the priory in the 12th century. After portions of the priory were devastated during the
centuries, reconstruction with 19th century methods and styles replaced the original architecture.
The early ruins remained in the fields surrounding the property. These are superb examples of
the Romanesque style of architecture prevalent in Northern Europe in the 12th century. A more detailed history of the priory is available upon request. |
