Cherrywood Directoire Period Armoire from Southwest France

Cherrywood two-door armoire with "chapeau gendarme" (arched top). Fluted columns on central panel and on corners. Beautifully carved apron with cherry branch and scroll feet. Cherry, an uncommon wood for an armoire is native to the Southwest region of France. Side panels in oak.
